Woodi is supposely my "favorite". I guess that comes from the fact that I am the only person alive that can handle him. (most of the time)

Woodi is our rescue dog. The previous owners couldn't keep him and tried to sell him to us. When we wouldn't buy him, they gave him to us to place in a "good" home. We never found a home for him (explained later) and so he stayed with us. His background is sketchy and very poor. We researched it and he came from an Iowa puppy mill. These people had puchased him from a Las Vegas, Nevada pet shop for $600.00 (way too much money) and had problems right from the start. He had behavor problems related to living (surviving) in a puppy mill. He also had kennel cough and his vaccinations were not up to date. We nursed him back to health and today he is as heathly as a horse..

The pervious owners couldn't properly take care of him and left him outside on a short chain. A basenji is a dog that needs to run (upwards of 35 miles per hour) and he was deprived of that for over a year before we got him. Doing so was ABUSE (like nailing a foot to the floor) and to this day, he has a great fear of confinement and things put around his neck. I am the only person that can pick him up (even my wife can't) and he needs a very firm. but loving hand. Woodi (we changed his call name from Woody after we got him) is a happy, fun loving dog that despirately wants love. He is a classic "fear biter" and has to be handled slowly but firmly. He rebells against any form of pysicial punishment. It took me a long time to win him over.

* = We didn't name him. American Kennel Club registered names can not be changed. The Jubeve part of his name is a phony kennel name. (We could never locate the kennel, we tried and got no father then the state and that was though a registry service. (mass producing AKC registrations for unidentified "breeders")

Can you guess the next kennel members name?
